Já agora acho que essa variedade vermelha não é comestível. Só se comem os amerelados. E essa mezinha dos figos para a tosse também é conhecida no Brasil.

Uma piada sobre esses figos:

Um francês vai ao mercado na Madeira, vê os tabaibos ou figos e estranhando pergunta à camponesa:
- Comment s'appelle? (como se chamam?)
A camponesa olha para o homem e responde-lhe:
- Come-lhe a pele e vê se te lixas...!
